Common Diseases and Remedies

Powdery mildew, anthracnose, mosaic virus, root rot, leaf spot, bacterial blight.

White powdery spots on leaves/stems, dark brown-black lesions with gummy exudate on pods/leaves, yellow-green mottling with distorted leaves and stunted pods, wilting with water-soaked roots and stem base rot, small brown-gray spots with gray-white centers on leaves, water-soaked spots turning brown with yellow halos on leaves/pods.

Spray neem oil (2 ml/L) or Trichoderma harzianum (500 g/acre), apply Pseudomonas fluorescens (2 L/acre drench), remove infected plants, use copper-based fungicides (e.g., Bordeaux mixture), practice crop rotation (2-3 years) and staking for air circulation, use insecticidal soap for aphid vectors.

Apply carbendazim (0.1%, 2 g/L) for powdery mildew, mancozeb (0.25%) for anthracnose/leaf spot, thiamethoxam (100 g/acre) for mosaic virus vectors, metalaxyl (0.5 g/L) for root rot, copper oxychloride (0.2%) for bacterial blight, rotate chemicals to prevent resistance.
